I was saying nothing is future proof. The PS3 might be more future proof by today's standards, but we won't be using today's standards when the next gen systems come out. 360 and Wii don't have to be future proof, because they never claimed to be. They're expected to be replaced in the next 2-3 years. Boasts from sony would have you believing the PS3 will match up favorably in 10. The fact of the matter is, by that time (according to moore's law) it's components will be less than half as powe...

Not necessarily true anymore. The third party multi-platform lineup is the strongest lineup on any console. If the console's were the same price then it would come down to exclusives more. With one console $100+ cheaper, and a lineup that strong that works on both, people will start to disregard minor exclusives.

Brand loyalty makes very little sense, and that's why I hate playstation now. Sony fans made me hate sony more than anything because of their ridiculous brand loyalty. I was all sony till the PS2 when it took them too long to get any decent games, then I got an xbox.

If/When microsoft upsets me or another company releases a clearly superior console, I'll switch consoles again. No big deal.

being a fan of a developer is reasonable, but a console doesn't deserve your l...

launch PS2's had a DRE failure rate about the same as launch 360s, and just like PS2's, the failure rate of the 360 dropped and continues to drop dramatically.

The failure rate today is around 17%, including all 360's released from launch, which were closer to 30%.

also, lol at "why do gamers opt for playstation"... there's 79% of the market that didn't "opt for playstation".

here is one fact I can give you...

FACT: nothing is future proof.

Any technology, especially in it's first iteration (cell) will be improved upon, making it eventually inferior. The cell is already inferior to other processors based off the cell.

As far as storage mediums go, there are a lot of better solutions for gaming than blu-ray. people really underestimate variable size storage devices like flash media. There is also a great benefit to a medium th...

I'm happy for you... I never said it was a bad game, I said the hype was ridiculously out of control on it.

Good for you that you didn't let the hype get to you, and had realistic expectations, but a lot of people didn't.

To be quite frank, I could walk through the pearly gates of heaven and receive absolute and pure joy and it wouldn't live up to the hype that LBP had before it's launch. If you don't believe me look around this very site in the weeks and months befo...

It's a $299 system on it's own. Considering you get that system with 3 games for the same price, it is a good deal. Cry me a river, build a bridge, and get over it.

fable 2 had hype?

6385d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

they are saying which games were overrated.

if you take a scale from 1-100, and you have something at 90, which is pretty good from 1-100, and build the hype to the point where everyone expects 100, it's over rated.

It's still a 90, and not bad, but it's over rated anyway.

It was over rated. It's not bad, just over rated.

In the months leading up to LBP release, you could have sworn it was the video game messiah getting ready to lead us to a bright future of gaming. I had people quite literally tell me that they could make any game in LBP. I had people tell me that the game was single handedly going to make the PS3 outsell the 360 in every territory.

LBP did not live up to the hype, not because it was bad, but because the hype built up...

A lot of people don't understand that there's a difference between pushing the hardware as far as it can go, and using as much of the hardware as possible. The former will happen when you do the latter, but the latter can happen with even a 2d sidescroller if it isn't optimized.

Consider the 360 to be a car engine, and game engines to be different gears you can put the car into. A lower gear won't get you going as fast, but you'd be dumb not to at least try to use the engine to i...

You should have been too... You've been here less than a year... "cry me a river"...

That said, when the PS3 launched people hated it because it made a lot of really bad moves. It had barely any decent launch games, it was ridiculously expensive, and sony execs weren't saying anything very inspiring about their product while taking a decent sized dump on their fanbase with a lot of the things they said ("we could sell an empty box and people would buy it"). So...

You have to clarify whether it's from a business or pleasure standpoint.

Pleasure is pretty close, and I'd say very few people fell wanting with their gaming needs between the two.

Business wise, I'd say the 360, because it's just started selling better around the world, and is continuing to trend better in the future. It's at a good price point with a pretty good lineup (comparable to last year at this time, and 2008 turned out great). From purely a business standpo...

That's all well and good, but the thing is that home is in no way better. Presentations are easily shared from other office programs, and can be updated on the fly by the group.

is in development, they just aren't going to push hard for a release till they feel the market's ready.

It's also not supposed to be in the same setting at all. I suspect a story more to do with present day following the character you played in the present day parts of the game.
